Hey there and welcome to our site, thanks for taking some time out of your day to spend a few minutes with us.

My wife and myself started our adoption journey over four years ago, along the way we learnt a lot about our selves and our family, we are now the proud parents of one incredible toddler and it has been a delight to watch him grow and flourish.

We opted for a newborn adoption, so he has been with us since he was 4 days old, and every day is just a delight watching him grow and become who is meant to be.

Our goals

One large gap stood out through as we travelled along, how do you actually raise a baby?

In the case of adoption, on placement day you literally walk out of the location with a baby in your arms. I remember vividly as we walked back to the car carrying our precious newborn son, catching my wife’s eye and realizing she was having the exact same thoughts I was, ‘oh boy, now what do we do?’

Now do not get me wrong, we are lucky to live in an age where there is a not what I would call a dearth of information, if anything it swings the other way.

You start to feel you are being bombarded with information and advice. The internet, books, friends and family will all rush to educate on what you need to do (you can now add me to that list).

The challenge is a lot of the information starts to be contradictory, who do you trust? what do you trust? We must have read over 15 different books prior to placement, some of them were fantastic, some I started to wonder if the author had even had a child of their own.

We rapidly figured that you innately start to know what to do, you take what works and discard what is useless.

Every baby and child are different, what works well for one will certainly not work for another. The trick is to discover what works well for your child in the least time possible.

In doing this blog series I hope to offer a new parent’s perspective on what we found that works well for our child, so there is a chance that you can take it, adapt it and apply it to your own child rearing.

Our content

I will cover off some key areas, that we spent months researching and reading up on, in the hope we can save you some time, time better spent being present with your little one.

We will touch on topics such as sleep, feeding, technology, the adoption process, learning, playing, medicine and sickness to name but a few.

Thanks for being here, we hope you enjoy the articles we post.
